Book Review - Lick, By Kylie Scott

Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

The only reason I started reading this book was because my Kobo broke one day and while I was having reading withdrawals my lovely sister gave me a book to read... little did she know it was book 3&4 of a series. So before reading them I had to find books one and two, I went to the library and with a lot of embarrassment (ordered the books to my library to pick up and the librarian read the book names, Lick and Play, out loud in front of everyone)  I got them, and let me say I am so happy I did!

The storyline was really good, nothing about this book was rushed, over detailed, or drawn out. It was the perfect mix for me. I loved how Kylie Scott made the man, David, the insecure one in the relationship, whereas the female, Evelyn, was strong and stood her ground. I was really starting to get sick of the female leads being so weak and needy.

There were a few spelling mistakes I noticed, but nothing to serious. Usually I get really annoyed with spelling mistakes in books but I overlooked it in this one. I also felt Kylie used some odd words in some situations, it was almost like she had a Thesaurus beside her as read wrote. But hey, who knows she could just use those words in her day to day life! (That would be awesome haha)

I liked that the sex scenes weren't over detailed. it wasn't five long pages of full raunchy porn. Don't get me wrong it was very clear they had sex, but Kylie Scott didn't try to hard with those moments. It was just the right amount of sexy, and then back to the main storyline. I would've also loved to read more on David's perspective in certain situations. To know more about how he was feeling and what he was doing at specific parts in the story would have been great to see. It just would've been nice to see his side of things as well.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I would give this a 4 star review. This book could've been a stand alone book, so I am very excited to see what her second book "Play" will bring to the table (watch out for that review soon!!) A job well done by Kylie Scott!
